Sister Anita (Rosina) Poeppe, 64, Franciscan Sister of Perpetual Adoration, died Monday, July 31, 1995, in Villa St. Joseph, La Crosse. Sister Anita was born Dec. 25, 1930, in Mount Carmel, Iowa, to Albert J. and Julia (Nieland) Poeppe. She entered St. Rose Convent on Aug. 27, 1948. Entering the teaching profession, she served for 43 years in elementary parochial schools in Idaho, Iowa and Wisconsin. She taught at Holy Trinity School in La Crosse from 1955 to 1956. She was elementary principal at Marquette Elementary Schools in Houghton and St. Paul, Iowa, from 1983 until March 1995, when she was diagnosed with terminal cancer and returned to St. Rose Convent. She moved to Villa St. Joseph in June.

Sister Anita is survived by her Franciscan Community; her mother, Mrs. Julia Poeppe of Emmetsburg, Iowa; five sisters, Mrs. Dolora (Delbert) Brincks of Carroll, Iowa, Mrs. Fern (Kenneth) Dobbins of Moorhead, Minn., Mrs. Phyllis Lindsey of Laurens, Iowa, Mrs. Patricia (Howard) Metzger of Estherville, Iowa, and Mrs. Zeline (Joe) Gappa of Emmetsburg; three brothers, Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Poeppe of Eagleville, Mo., Mr. and Mrs. Kenneth Poeppe and Mr. and Mrs. Dale Poeppe, all of Emmetsburg; and several nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her father.

The Rev. John Spiegel, pastor at Houghton and St. Paul, Iowa, will preside at the Mass of Christian Burial at 11 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 2 in Maria Angelorum Chapel, St. Rose Convent. Burial will be in Catholic Cemetery, La Crosse. Friends may call after 1 p.m. today at St. Rose Convent where there will be a 7:15 p.m. prayer service in Maria Angelorum Chapel. The Dickinson Family Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
