Mass of the Christian burial for Del Rae E. Peterson of Scranton was at 10 a.m. Monday, May 17, 2004 at St. Paul Catholic Church in Scranton.

Mrs. Peterson, 61, died Thursday, May 13 at the Greene county Medical Center in Jefferson.

The Rev. Stephen McCloud presided at the Mass. Lector was Eldon Wright. Gift bearers were grandchildren Aaron Liechti and Travis Koster.

Casket bearers were Dean Gibson, Donald "Chop" Gibson, Travis Tuel, Charlie Duff, Larry Fraizer and Bob Walker. Honorary casket bearers were grandchildren Stephanie Peterson, Kyle Peterson, Garrett Peterson, Amber Liechti, Aaron Liechti and Travis Koster.

Burial was in Scranton Township Cemetery.

Visitation started at 3 p.m. and a prayer service was held at 7 p.m. Sunday at the Dahn and Woodhouse Funeral Home in Scranton.

A daughter of Alois and Elinor (Nieland) Vonnahme, she was born June 4, 1942 at Carroll, raised on her family's farm south of Breda and graduated from St. Bernard Catholic School in Breda.

She and Richard H. Peterson were married February 4, 1961 at St. Bernard Catholic Church in Breda.

They lived and worked on the Peterson home farm south of Scranton for 30 years. They moved to Scranton in 1990.

Over the years, Mrs. Peterson had several jobs in Scranton, including Casey's and the Scranton Public Library. She was also an Avon saleswoman for 20 years.

Survivors include a son, Craig Peterson, and his wife Lois of Scranton; a daughter, Michelle Peterson of Hopkins, MO; six grandchildren; two brothers: Marvin Vonnahme and his wife Judy of Campbellsburg, IN, and Lee Vonnahme and his wife LaVonne, of Westside; and a brother-in-law, Raymond Yuhasz of Arlington, Texas.

Mrs. Peterson was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Richard; a sister, Colleen; and a brother, Robert.
