Jovina Teresa Becker 1936-1987 Carroll Herald, February, 1987 Mass of the Christian Burial was held Thursday, Feb. 5, for Jovina T. "Jo" Becker, 50, who died Monday, Feb. 2, 1987, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll following a long illness. The rev. Mervin Hood conducted the Mass at 1 p.m. Thursday at Holy Spirit Church in Carroll. Burial was at Mount Olivet Cemetery in Carroll. Lector for the Mass was Marge Wolterman. Gift bearers were David, Doug and Mark Becker. Miss Becker, a daughter of William S. and Amelia Reising Becker, was born Feb. 7, 1936, in Breda. She grew up in Breda and attended St. Bernard Schools. In January 1955, she moved with her parents to Thayer, and was employed in Osceola. She returned to the Carroll area in 1966 and since 1972 had been employed by Farmland Foods in Carroll. She was a member of Holy Spirit Parish and the Holy Spirit Ladies Guild. Miss Becker is survived by her father, William S. Becker, of Dunlap; 10 brothers; Arthur Becker and his wife, Dorothy of Dunlap; Robert Becker and his wife Joanne of Carroll; William G. Becker and his wife Mary Lou of Carroll; John Becker and his wife, Marna of Afton; Zenas Becker and his wife Loa of Carroll; Jerome Becker and his wife Vicki of Glidden; Michael Becker and his wife Eileen of Des Moines; Allen Becker and his wife Joanne of Perry; Gary Becker and his wife Maureen of Perry; and Gene Becker and his wife Kay of Pomeroy; three sisters: Mrs. Wilbur (Helen) Wolterman of Carroll, Mrs. Richard (Clarita) Roth of Spencer, and Mrs. Verlin (Phyllis) Danner of Glidden; and 44 nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her mother, two nephews, one niece, and two sisters-in-law.
