Kenneth John “Kenny” Stork 1959-2008

Kenny Stork, 49, of Breda, died Saturday, Dec. 20, 2008, at St. Anthony Regional Hospital in Carroll of complications from Lou Gehrig's Disease.

Mass of the Christian burial will be 10 a.m. Wednesday, Dec. 24, 2008, at St. Bernard Church in Breda. Father Joe Dillinger will officiate.

Visitation will begin at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 23, 2008, at the St. Bernard Church in Breda, where there will be a rosary at 4 p.m. and a Christian wake service at 7 p.m. by the St. Bernard Parish.

Burial, with Military honors by the Breda American Legion, will be in the St. Bernard Cemetery at Breda.

Memorials may be left at the church in Mr. Stork's name.

The Sharp Funeral Home of Breda is in charge of the arrangements.

Lector for the mass will be Brenda Ridings. Gift bearers will be Phyllis Davis, Ruth Lappe, Susan Benedict, Patricia Stork, Margaret Gross, Mary Eickman, Michele Stork, Sandra Hackerson and Brenda Bruggeman. Mass servers will be Collin Stork, Matt Wessling and Colby Lappe. Eucharistic Ministers will be Bill Stork, Pat Stork and Amy Stork.

Casket bearers will be Dale Steinkamp, LeRoy Steinkamp, Kevin Nieland, Kenny Schettler, Dean Bruning, Mike Wiederin, Chuck Malm and Jim Macke.

A son of Matt H. and Marry Ann (Grabner) Stork, he was born June 12, 1959, at Carroll. He grew up in the Breda community and attended the St. Bernard School. After his family moved to Carroll, he attended the St. Lawrence School and then graduated from Kuemper High School in 1977.

After graduation in 1977, he entered the U.S. Air Force and was honorably discharged in January, 1983, at the rank of Sergeant.

Following his military service, he was employed at the Pella Corporation in Carroll.

On Dec. 29, 1984, he married Michelle Warnke at St. Lawrence Church in Carroll. The couple moved to Breda in 1988, where Mr. Stork and his brother, Henry Stork, purchased Zeke's Place in Breda. They operated the business until 2002, when he became the manager of the Carroll Municipal Golf Course, a position he held until his death.

He was a member of the St. Bernard Parish and the Breda American Legion. He enjoyed playing golf, watching his kids play golf, gambling, fishing, watching golf on television and working.

Survivors include his wife, Michelle Stork of Breda; three children: Cortney Young and her husband T.J. of Memphis, Mo., Curtis Stork of Breda and Matt Stork of Breda; twin grand-daughters, Zoe and Mya Young; eight sisters: Phyllis Davis and her husband Larry of Stuart, Ruth Lappe and her husband Fred of Auburn, Susan Benedict and her husband Robert of Highland, Calif., Patricia Stork and her friend Leo Lindner, Jr. of Deloit, Margaret Gross and her husband Patrick of Council Bluffs, Mary Eickman and her husband Lynn of Littleton, Colo, Michele Stork and her friend Frank Gregorsky of Vienna, Va. and Sandra Hackerson and her husband Ron of Ames; and eight brothers and their wives: Alan and LuJean Stork of Carroll, Robert and MaryLou Stork of Lake View, Donald and Marsha Stork of Breda, Thomas and Mary Jean Stork of Carroll, William and Pat Stork of Lidderdale, Gordon and Carol Stork of Clive, Matt Jr. and Teri Stork of Lake City and Henry and Amy Stork of Altus, Okla.

Mr. Stork was preceded in death by his parents and a nephew, Chris Lappe.
