Michael Lowell "Mick" Schwieso  1946 - 2001

Michael L. "Mick" Schwieso, son of Albert and Madonna McMahon Schwieso, was born August 4, 1946, in Kittery, Maine. Mick's family lived in Chicago, Illinois where he attended kindergarten. The following year his family moved to Manilla, Iowa where he graduated with the Manilla High School Class of 1964. After his schooling Mick worked at a number of places, including Farmland, Manilla Fertilizer, Hy-Line, Omaha Cold Storage, Rocky's, Miller See, and Horizon Seed.

On April 30, 1977, Mick was united in marriage with Carleen Nieland at Sacred Heart Church in Manilla. Mick and Carleen made their home in Manilla. Mick was employed at Sucrosco Seed. Due to failing health, Mick retired in 2000. Mick was a member of Sacred Heart Church. He loved his dogs and cat and enjoyed participating with chat lines on the computer, hunting, fishing, gardening, music, photography, bowling, golfing and keeping the cars clean and waxed. Monday, July 23, 2001, Mick died at Crawford County Memorial Hospital in Denison, Iowa, shortly after suffering a heart attack at his home. He was 54 years, 11 months and 19 days of age.

Mick was preceded in death by his parents. He is survived by his wife Carleen Schwieso of Manilla; brothers and sisters: Dennis Schwieso and his wife Linda of Waterloo; Chris Macumber and her husband Glen of Manilla; Pamela Jurgensen and her husband Gerald of Manilla; Jeff Schwieso of Manilla; an uncle Gerald "Jiggs" McMahon of Manilla; three aunts: Patricia McMahon of Manilla; Dorothy Rooney of Sioux City; Mary Schwieso of Council Bluffs; and by nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
