SPARKS—Robert "Bob" Lee Stangl was born on January 31, 1932, in Okarche, Oklahoma, and departed this life on Monday, January 30, 2012, in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, at the age of 79.

Bob, the son of Lawrence V. and Susanna V. (Schneider) Stangl, was a resident of Sparks, Oklahoma. He graduated from Holy Trinity Catholic High School in Okarche. After serving in the United States Army from 1953 to 1955, and receiving an honorable discharge, he returned to the family farm. Bob moved to Lincoln County in 1955 and followed his lifelong dream of raising beef cattle. He managed his herd of registered Beefmaster cattle until his death.

Bob married Bernadette E. Rother on October 22, 1958. On September 11, 1964, he was installed as postmaster of Sparks and served in that position until his retirement in 1992. Bob was a member of St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church and the Knights of Columbus, a charter member of the Sparks Volunteer Fire Department, and NAPUS (National Association of Postmasters).

His parents and brother, E.J. Stangl, preceded Bob in death. Survivors include his wife of 53 years, Bernadette Stangl of the home; sons, Lawrence Joseph "Larry" and Joann Stangl of Bristow, Virginia, Dennis Robert and Sue Stangl of Prague; daughters, Joan Marie Kriegh of Mustang, Susan Kathryn and Phillip Thompson of Tulsa, Donna Rose and Adam Jung of Yukon; 12 granddaughters, 1 grandson, 3 great-grandchildren; brother, Tony and Mary Stangl of Okarche; sister and brother-in-law, Mary Lou and John Tollefson of Edmond.

Memorials may be made to: The National Shrine of the Infant Jesus of Prague Memorial Garden, P.O. Box 488, Prague, OK 74864. A Wake Service and Rosary will be held on Friday, February 3, 2012 at 7:00 PM in the Parks Brothers Funeral Chapel, Prague.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, February 4, 2012 at 10:00 AM, at St. Wenceslaus Catholic Church in Prague with Father Price Oswalt, Father Don Wolf, and Msgr. Edward J. Weisenburger officiating. Interment will follow at the Catholic Cemetery in Prague. Services are under the direction of Parks Brothers Funeral Service in Prague.
