William John Reineke 1916-2004

William J. Reineke, 88, of Carroll, died Wednesday, Dec. 15, 2004 at the Carroll Manor in Carroll.

Mass of the Christian burial will be at 10 a.m. Monday, Dec. 20 at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Carroll with the Rev. James McCormick presiding.

Lector will be Russell Reineke. Gift bearers will be Dolora Brinks and Dorothy Geister. Eucharistic minister will be Jackie Reineke. Casket bearers will be LeRoy Nieland, Randy Nieland, Gary Geister, Ron Reineke, Dean Brincks and Darwin Brincks. Burial will be in Mt. Olivet Cemetery in Carroll.

Visitation will begin at 2:30 p.m. Sunday at Twit Funeral Home in Carroll. A rosary will be recited at 3 p.m. and a vigil service will be held at 7 p.m. Visitation will resume at 8:30 a.m. Monday at the church.

A son of William and Mary (Brincks) Reineke, he was born July 23, 1916 at Carroll. He attended SS. Peter and Paul's in Carroll and country school. He married Marie Nieland Wittry at St. Bernard's Church in Breda.

Bill farmed for many years in the Breda area before moving to Carroll and working as a bus driver for the Carroll Community Schools. He also worked for many years for Twit Funeral Home and the Carroll County Ambulance Service. He enjoyed following the stock and grain markets, driving around the countryside and especially visiting Swan Lake.

He was a member of Holy Spirit Parish. He ushered and for many years was responsible for licking and unlocking the church.

Mr. Reineke is survived by a sister, Mary Nieland of Storm Lake; many nieces and nephew; and great-nieces and great-nephews.

He is preceded in death by his parents, William and Mary Reineke; his wife Marie in 1999; his brothers: Henry, Edward and Clarence Reineke; and his sisters: Cecilia Reineke, Julitta Reineke and another sister in infancy.
